Run by Ercan and Cathy, a Turkish/English couple who gave up life in Notting Hill, London, to start this venture, Dalyan Garden Pension is an informal family run oasis situated in the little known Arikbasi area of the village of Dalyan

Only a half hour taxi ride from Dalaman airport, the pension features an enchanting garden with bar, eight simple comfortable rooms, a seventeen metre pool and magnificent views of the surrounding mountains and farmland. Whether you want to unwind, read in the shade of the garden, sunbathe, cool off in the pool or explore the surrounding countryside, the hosts will make you feel welcome and relaxed.

Dalyan village centre and the river is a pleasant fifteen minute walk away – or five minutes on one of the bikes provided free of charge! There you’ll find plenty of shops, as well as a range of river side restaurants and bars. And a great market every Saturday.

From the village it’s just fifteen minutes by 'dolmus' (the local minibus), or thirty minutes by boat to Iztuzu, one of Turkey’s most beautiful Mediterranean beaches. The entire area is a government conservation zone, and the ecology and natural habitat are preserved enabling visitors to enjoy nature at its most impressive. So you’ll see no buildings around the beach, (although the local council provides a café, sun beds, changing facilities and showers all tastefully done).

Also close by you’ll find hot thermal springs and mud baths, and the ancient city of Kaunos - with its ruined acropolis, theatre and temples. And not forgetting the tranquil backwater of Lake Koycegiz .reached by travelling up the river in the opposite direction to the beach.
